The marvellous and magical Joshua Cutchin joined me recently on the Fairy Whispering Podcast. Joshua is a talented researcher of the weird, wonderful and spooky, folklorist, musician, and author of the thought-provoking book The Inverted Path (as well as many books, including Fourth Wall Phantoms and A Trojan Feast).
Joshua wrote the foreword to my two-volume series The Heart of Pixieland: West-Country Faeries & Their Haunts - and, even though we have had email discussions, this is the first time we have met in person! I specifically chose to schedule Joshua’s episode as the 111th because 111 is a portal number. It has been interpreted as a doorway to new beginnings, manifesting magic, alignment, intuition, and awakening to new realities. All of these interpretations connect with both Joshua’s and my work and the synchronicity behind him writing the foreword to Heart of Pixieland. Listen to the episode to hear my story of why I reached out to him to write my foreword.
Joshua shares his insights on the disorienting experiences often reported in both fairy tales and UFO encounters, revealing the common themes that link them.
We discuss the concept of being “pixie led,” the mysterious stopping phenomena associated with fairies, cryptids, and UFOs, and the captivating stories of individuals who have found themselves lost in familiar places.
Plus, Joshua shares his views on the role of wonder and ancestral connections in our day-to-day lives and the research that unnerves him to this day.
Enjoy the episode, thank you for listening and see you next time!
